Indianapolis 500 Grandstand Tickets Sell Out for Second Consecutive Year

Grandstand seating for the Indianapolis 500 has officially sold out for the second consecutive year, according to Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials.

The race is scheduled for May 24, and organizers said general admission infield tickets are also close to selling out. If that happens, it would mark the first time since 2016 that the event has sold out both grandstand and infield access.

Taking to social media, the official account for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway shared:

“Another year, another grandstand sellout 😏👏

A massive and historic crowd will join us for the #Indy500 presented by @gainbridgelife next Sunday as the final reserved seat tickets will be sold today and the grandstands will be SOLD OUT.”

Last year’s Indy 500 grandstand sellout was the first since the race’s 100th running in 2016. That sellout was confirmed five days before Race Day.

Notably, the strong ticket demand has led Indianapolis Motor Speedway to lift the local television blackout in Central Indiana. The blackout policy, which is tied to attendance and ticket sales, has only been lifted three times in the past 75 years.

INDYCAR and Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles shared, “Anticipation for Race Day is approaching an all-time high right here in Central Indiana and across the globe.”

“We can’t thank the world’s greatest and most loyal fans enough,” he added. “The stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES are ready for an unparalleled showcase of speed, bravery and competition in front of a historic and massive crowd.”
